6th Grade Mixer

     

Next Friday, October 4th, 6th grade students will have their mixer at Skateland.  They will be in dress down for Spirit week, so they will not wear their uniform to the mixer.  Transportation is proved by the school.  Students will be back for dismissal!  All costs are covered by Calvert, except students may bring no more than $10 for snacks if they wish.

TEAM BUILDING

   Today, the 6th grade came together for some team building activities, where they learned more about one another, and had to work cooperatively to accomplish a goal.  We had two large circles, and the students joined hands.  They had to pass a hula-hoop from one person to another without breaking the chain of hands.  GIRLS WON!  :-)  Then, they completed a crossing the line activity, where we lined them up on one line and read questions to them.  If the question pertained to them, they had to cross the half court line and turn and face their peers, then return to the main line.  We asked questions like...."Have/Were you ever...."                                          

•   broken a bone?
•   helped another person cross the street?
•   seen a bear NOT in a zoo?
•   read a whole book in one day?
•   eaten something weird just to be polite?

Off to a Great Start!

   Sixth graders are settling in and and becoming use to the schedule and new locations of all classrooms!  Not to mention, Calvert rolled out Google docs to all students, so they are learning new ways to organize themselves too!  We look forward to meeting you all on Parent Night!
